The VLC Media Player has just been updated to 1.0.1
VLC is an outstanding project, providing a free and open source media player for Mac, Windows and Linux that will handle just about every video format that you could throw at it. From raw AVCHD straight off a new HD camcorder to old MPEG streams and weird AVIs, chances are that VLC will handle it.
Unusually for an Open Source project, VLC recently reached version 1.0.0 which was a pretty major milestone in it’s development, which has been going on for years.
If you don’t like the standard traffic cone icon, over at MacRabbit (makers of the super-cool CSSEdit) they have a VLC Makeover Kit that will make the icons for VLC and it’s media files a lot more Mac-like
