Microsoft have recently changed the default font in Office to Aptos.
Apart from the visual changes, this seems to cause problems with Acrobat Distiller and creating PDFs from Office documents.
When creating a PDF, instead of the PDF opening at the end of the process, a log file is instead opened in Notepad and it says something like the following:
%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
Aptos not found, using Courier.
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%
Stack:
[129 44 37 97 48 48 0]
()
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
The key part of this error message is Aptos not found, using Courier.
One fix is to go into Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & Scanners > Adobe PDF > Printing Preferences.
This will open up a window with the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences like so:
Find the checkbox that says Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts and make sure it is unticked.
Click on OK to save the settings and you should be able to print PDFs once more.
An alternative solution that some have said works for them (but didn’t for me) was to go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FontCache\4\CloudFonts and find the Aptos fonts that Microsoft have installed. Copy them to C:\Windows\Fonts and they might be able to be found by Acrobat Distiller.
