Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Automatica Pty Ltd (“Automatica”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Contact details (name, email address, phone number) when you use our contact form or engage our services
  • Business information relevant to providing support
  • Technical information necessary to diagnose and resolve issues

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and provide technical support
  • Manage our client relationship with you
  • Improve our services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Our apps

Our free Mac apps, including Bumblebee GUI, Password Generator and Transfer Rate Calculator, are built to run locally on your own hardware and contain no analytics or tracking. Password Generator and Transfer Rate Calculator work entirely on your Mac and never connect to the internet – nothing you enter leaves your machine.

Bumblebee GUI also works entirely on your Mac, but it periodically checks GitHub for newer versions of the Bumblebee binary and the vulnerability data. This is an ordinary web request made directly to GitHub, subject to GitHub’s own privacy policy; it contains no personal information, and Automatica does not see or record it.

ScanTransit

ScanTransit’s mail flow runs entirely on your own Mac. We do not proxy or otherwise intercept any email sent from the app, and your mailbox credentials and scanned documents never pass through any Automatica system.

Google user data and OAuth

ScanTransit uses Google OAuth 2.0 to authenticate with Google’s SMTP service for sending emails. When you authenticate ScanTransit with your Google account:

  • Scope requested: ScanTransit requests only the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send scope, which permits sending emails only. It does not request read access to your mailbox, contacts, or any other Google data.
  • OAuth tokens: Your OAuth tokens are stored exclusively on your Mac in an encrypted, root-only location. They are never transmitted to Automatica or any third party—only to Google’s own services when sending email.
  • No data sharing: Automatica does not receive, store, or process your Google OAuth tokens, email content, recipient addresses, or any other Google user data. Your Google authentication is entirely between you, your Mac, and Google.

Automatica licensing and usage data

ScanTransit features a cloud-hosted licensing server which validates your licence. The only information transmitted to Automatica is:

  • Daily licence ping (approximately every 24 hours): a salted hash of your Mac’s hardware serial number, the installed app version, and your current licence state (trial, licensed, expired, etc.). This ping contains no email content, recipient addresses, scan volume, hostname, username, or OAuth tokens.
  • Licence activation only: the signed licence key is sent to validate it. This key currently contains your email address (the purchaser’s email), which is the only point at which your email address is sent to Automatica’s server.

We collect and store a one-way hash of your Mac’s serial number (not the serial number itself), your email address and the date of your purchase. We use this information to validate licences and to retrieve your licence for you if you lose it.

Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Client records are retained for seven years in accordance with Australian tax law requirements.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse. Our systems use industry-standard security practices.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. Contact us at [email protected] to exercise these rights.
