Thanks for this solution - I was about to go buy a new (non-HP!) printer even though my 1022 is still rock-solid with the Windows machines in the house. Just in case you (or anyone else) are still having the 'software update' nagging issue, you can tell system to ignore specific updates from the 'Update' menu within the Sofware Update application. Now I just have to get my airport express back on track and I can get back to the nice wireless printing solution I had in place 3 years ago...

Khundry,

To uninstall, delete /etc/ppp/ip-up and /etc/ppp/ip-down.

The command you have copied and pasted above <em>is</em> the exact command to use.

I installed the package provided above and the problem has not been resolved. I don't know how to uninstall it as I have made the situation worse. I would appreciate if you can advise me how to perform the following:
If you’re wanting to do it manually here’s an one-liner to execute in the terminal:
sudo /sbin/route delete 10.0.0.0/8

what is the exact command ? I am running OSX Lion on Mac. Thank you very much for your help.

I don't think they can have it both ways.

Yes, clearing the list of 'open' apps can fix issues if one of those app are running reserved background processes (like voip apps, camera monitoring apps, facebook etc)

Yes, clearing this list on a regular basis will not always result in improved phone battery life and behaviour,

Yes, it is something to try if you are experiencing battery life burn and other issues.

No, it won't solve every issue an iPhone has, just like resetting the PRAM, or Rebuilding the Desktop or Repairing Permissions won't fix all your Mac issues (though will certainly fix some specific issues that these techniques target).

Hi Andy,

I'm not sure - I'm planning to upgrade my server to Lion at some stage over the Christmas break, but haven't done so yet. The Server Admin in Lion is brain-dead compared to the Snow Leopard version, and in particular the web services admin has been gimped pretty severely. At a guess, I'd say you'll need to edit apache .conf files by hand (and there are plenty of good guides on this out there on the Internet).

I'll post an update to this story when I've got it all working on Lion.

do you by chance know the steps to get this to work in Lion Server? Since server admin does not have the redirect feature I don't know what files to edit.

Fiery have a Universal Fiery Print Driver up that supports 10.7.
Unless you're using fancy features, this may even be a better driver than the "full featured" driver as it doesn't load any additional binaries, it seems to be all in the PostScript PPD.

http://fieryforums.efi.com/showthread.php/2454-EFI-has-released-a-universal-Mac-OS-X-10.7-Fiery-Print-Driver

From the blog post:
<blockquote>

The Fiery Express driver will support the following features for Fiery printing:
•	Duplex
•	Stapling
•	Output Paper Size
•	Color Mode
•	Composite Overprint
</blockquote>

I'd warrant that this is probably all the functionality that you'll need 90% of the time anyway.
