Fix for PPTP VPN access via Telstra Next G/3G wireless internet

Telstra have some of the fastest 3G wireless and some of the best coverage in Australia. Yes, you sure pay for the privilege, but it’s there when you need it and it works. Mostly.
What I have had some issues with is connecting to networks via a VPN over the NextG network. Read on to find out why and how to fix it.

Comparing and contrasting the out of the box experience between an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro and a Sony VAIO laptop. The bottom line: Mac – up and productive at the desktop in under five minutes. Sony – 15-20 minutes to get to the desktop whereupon you need to spend another two or so hours burning recovery discs.

Broken LDAP Database on Mac OS X Server

Errors in the LDAP database were causing slapd to flip out. Running db_recover gave heaps of errors, but deleting the logs in the openldap directory and then running db_recover seems to have fixed the issue. Read on for a detailed look at the issue.
